چکیده

We investigate the paramagnetic-metal-to-antiferromagnetic-metal and antiferromagnetic-metal-toantiferromagnetic-insulator transitions using a slave-boson mean-field theory. To this effect, we discuss the ground state of the half-filled Hubbard model as a function of t8/t and correlation strength U, where t and t8 are the hopping amplitudes between nearest and next-nearest neighbors, respectively. The metal-insulator transition at a critical UMIT is of second order for small levels of magnetic frustration, t8/t,0.06, and of first order for large ones, t8/t.0.06. The insulator is always antiferromagnetically ordered, while the metal exhibits a second-order transition from a paramagnetic to an antiferromagnetic state up to t8/t50.14, as U is increased. We also contrast these findings with what we obtain in Hartree-Fock approximation.

The Orbital Selective Mott Transition in a Three Band Hubbard model: a Slave Boson Mean Field Study

Abstract In the present paper, we systematically studied the possible Orbital selective Mott transition (OSMT) in the t2g system, which has three orbital degeneracy. The slave Boson mean field theory is generalized to the three band systems with full Hund’s rule coupling including spin flip and pair hopping terms. A new type of Mott transition which is driven by the crystal field splitting or t...

Slave Boson Formulation for Interacting Boson Systems and the Superfluid - Insulator Transition

A new formulation for the study of interacting bosons on a lattice is introduced. This approach is used to give analytical expressions for the Mott insulating lobes in the phase diagram and to calculate the density-density correlation function. It is also shown that, at mean-field level, this newly introduced slave boson theory coincides with mean-field theory of a suitably introduced order par...

ابررسانایی در کوپراتهای بهینه آلاییده: برنامه BZA به خوبی کار می‌کند و ابر تعادل چسب است

Resonating valence bond states in a doped Mott insulator was proposed to explain superconductivity in cuprates in January 1987 by Anderson. A challenging task then was proving existence of this unconventional mechanism and a wealth of possibilities, with a rigor acceptable in standard condensed matter physics, in a microscopic theory and develop suitable many body techniques. Shortly, a paper...

Slave-boson theory of the Mott transition in the two-band Hubbard model

We apply the slave-boson approach of Kotliar and Ruckenstein to the two-band Hubbard model with an Ising like Hund’s rule coupling and bands of different widths. On the mean-field level of this approach we investigate the Mott transition and observe both separate and joint transitions of the two bands depending on the choice of the interand intraorbital Coulomb interaction parameters. The meanf...

Coherence and pairing in a doped Mott insulator: application to the cuprates.

The issues of single particle coherence and its interplay with singlet pairing are studied within the slave boson gauge theory of a doped Mott insulator. Prior work by one of us [T. Senthil, Phys. Rev. B 78, 045109 (2008)10.1103/PhysRevB.78.045109] showed that the coherence scale below which Landau quasiparticles emerge is parametrically lower than that identified in the slave boson mean field ...
